NOW is the time to come forward for the next production from a city theatre group with audition prep starting.

Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society (WODS) is set to perform ‘Sister Act’ in October at The Swan Theatre.

The cinema classic, which is also currently in London’s West End, will be making its way to Worcester Theatres from October 8 to 16.

Disco diva Deloris’ life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a murder.

Placed under protective custody, she is hidden in the one place she shouldn’t be found — a convent!

Encouraged to support the struggling choir, she helps her fellow sisters find their true voices as she unexpectedly rediscovers her own.

Popular songs from the soundtrack include ‘Fabulous Baby’, ‘The Life I’ve Never Led’ and ‘Raise Your Voice’.

Audition prep has started for the society and WODS welcomes anyone who is interested in taking part, whether that entails being on stage performing or helping out backstage managing props, assisting with make-up or sorting out costumes.

Members will be competing for several parts ranging from leading roles to ensemble performers.

More than 50 people joined for the first meet-up with just 28 spots available.

Chris Hooper, director of the show, said: “Sister Act is a fabulous and well-written show which isn’t to be missed.

“The audience will be on their feet by the end.”

Tickets will be on sale soon via Worcester Theatre or via Huntingdon Hall’s box office.
