THE M5 motorway will become a stream of gold and blue as up to 800 Worcester Warriors fans travel down to Gloucester in a convoy of coaches on Sunday.

About 15 coaches crammed with supporters will leave Sixways at 10am so they can get down to Kingsholm in time for the noon kick-off of the European Challenge Cup final against Bath.

It is set to be the biggest game in Warriors' history and ticket office manager Maxine James said it is the most transport the club has ever had to put on for a game.

"There will be about 15 coaches going down and some of those will be double-deckers so there will be about 750 to 800 Warriors fans bussing down," she said. "It's going to be quite a convoy.

"For a normal away game we would take a couple of coaches and there would be about 400 or 500 fans, but we have 7,000 people going down and special trains have been laid on.

"I'm sure there will be lots of flags, scarves and Warriors shirts on display on the way down and anybody on the M5 will just see gold and blue."

Today is the last chance for people to book a place on a coach - anybody wishing to do so should call the ticket office on 01905 454183.

"As everybody registers, they get given a ticket with a coach number on and what time it is leaving, but everybody has to pre-book by the close of play today," said Mrs James.

"We don't want lots of people turning up on Sunday because there might not be a lot of spare spaces and it would be a shame for them."

She said all fans who register for a coach trip will also have the choice of starting their return journey about 30 minutes after the end of the game or an hour-and-a-half.

Fans can also take advantage of two matchday trains that have been laid on by operator London Midland.

A service will run from Shrub Hill at 10.05am arriving at Gloucester at 10.37am.

A second train will depart from the Worcester station at 10.23am and arrive at Gloucester at 10.50am.

The ground is about 10 minutes' walk from the station.

Trains will return from Gloucester at 2.40pm and 3pm.

Fans are advised to buy tickets before travelling.
